Reformation Day Thesis for Disciples of Christ

In honor of Reformation Day, my thesis nailing to the door of the Disciples of Christ church:

1. The good confession that Jesus is the Son of God doesn't replace saving faith in the atonement of the Messiah on the cross for my sins and the imputed righteousness of His obedience.  (John 6:28:-29) (Romans 4:11) (1 John 1:7) (Romans 5:9) (Ephesians 1:16) (Romans 5:19)

2. Repentance is a gift of God.  (Acts 11:18)

3. Faith is a gift of God.  (Ephesians 2:8)

4. We are saved by the grace of God (Ephesians 2:8)

5. We are saved by calling upon the name of the !ord (Acts 2:21) (Psalm 51) (1 Corinthians 6:11) (Titus 3:5)

6. Saul's sins were washed away by calling upon the name of the Lord. (Acts 22:16) (Psalm 51)

7. Saul received the Holy Spirit by the laying on of Ananias's hands (Acts 9:17) (Acts 8:17-18) (2 Timothy 1:16) (1 Timothy 5:22) (John 20:21-23)

8. The Holy Spirit can be obtained as a gift by prayer (Luke 11:13)

9. Jesus baptizes by Holy Spirit (Mark 1:8) (Matthew 3:11) (Luke 3:16) (John 1:33) (Acts 1:5) (Acts 2:17-18)

10. The baptism in Acts 2:38 was by the Holy Spirit.  (See Bible verses in item 9)

11. The water in John 3:5 is God's word, the logos, the Lord's spirit (Ephesians 5:26) (Ezekiel 36:25-27) (Jeremiah 2:13) (Jeremiah 17:13) (John 4:10) (John 7:38) (John 4:13-14)

12. We are saved by God's grace, not a gospel plan of salvation

13. Our great commission to to baptize all nations with the gospel message (Matthew 28:19) (Malachi 1:11) (Zechariah 14:16 & 8:3 & 2:11 & 8:22) (Micah 4:2) (Luke 24:47) (Mark 13:10) (Mark 11:17) (Matthew 24:14)

14. Baptism is a Jewish tradition that became a Christian tradition. (John 3:25-26)

15.. Baptism may not be in water (Matthew 20:22-23) (Mark 1:8) (Mark 10:38-39) (Luke 12:50)

16. The baptism in Acts 8:36 the Septuagint uses Greek word baptizo in Isaiah 52:15 (so he will sprinkle (baptizo) many nations) therefore baptism may have not been full immersion but pouring or sprinkling per Jewish tradition
